About

First of all, www.ageekydad.com is a blog about my geeky family and all things a geeky dad can talk about.

I will post stuff about my family including:

  • Me – Geeky Dad
  • My wife – Geeky Momma
  • and our son – Little Geek
  • and our son to be – Little Geek v2 due to be released in December

I will also post stuff about the web, general technology stuff, gadgets, books, work, and anything else I decide blog worthy.

I work for a software company as a manager of software development.  My team focuses on custom web user interfaces to our core product.  We have customers in almost every industry all across the world with offices and partners in Europe and Asia.  I will not disclose the company name for now for several reasons.

I am a procrastinator extraordinaire and I am easily distracted by shiny things the beep and have lights, websites with words AND pics, or anything else that is not what I am supposed to be doing at the moment.  I might even give you some tips on how to hone your procrastination prowess.  This ability does sort of interfere with my occupation, but I work it out somehow.

I love working with computers, writing software, developing web applications, any shiny new gadgets (regardless of usefulness).

I am a gamer to some extent.  I really do not have time to play like I used to, but I love WoW, old school Quake death matches, and the occasional casual Flash type games.  I never have been able to get into console gaming, but I really am trying to justify a PS3 due to the fact it already has a BlueRay player.

I love God, my family, and my country. Go USA!

And of course, I love FOOTBALL!  Go Panthers (or Colts if the Panthers are sucking)!

I love reading, staying mainly in the fantasy or suspense thriller genre.

This blog is here as a type of personal therapy for me and to help me get life and thoughts organized.  Yes, there may be better ways, but this seems to be helpful.  I hope some of you out there will find something interesting here along the way.

I chose to use a mainstream blog provider rather than write my own for a few reasons (but am open to suggestions to better providers):

  • I am lazy like that
  • I wanted to see what it takes, the web gadgets involved, get ideas, etc…
  • I wanted it to work :)
    • I debug enough stuff at work, it’s time for someone else to deal with it for a bit.

That’s all for now,

A Geeky Dad – http://twitter.com/ageekydad
